‘Philosophy and pupil voice’

About the project

Thinking Space joined teachers at Priory School in asking students to help us make problem-based learning better. But before the students could answer they needed to ask some very important questions about the purpose of school and what it means to learn.

Through Philosophical enquiry and consultation with their peers the group discovered that their classmates like lessons to be fun, but not too much fun because sometimes fun gets in the way. They found that they wanted to have freedom to learn in their own way, but they didn’t want their learning to suffer because of other people. They like working on things that are interesting but there could be a lot of interesting things out their still to be discovered.

This project was about philosophical questions but it was also about practical solutions suggested by pupils and implemented by teachers .
