‘Rethinking Hide and Seek’ with Theatre Company Blah, Blah Blah, Leeds, 2011
The Blahs specialise in making theatre for and with children and young people. They commissioned Thinking Space to support them in reworking an existing piece of Theatre: Hide and Seek which examines the conspiracy of the gunpowder plot. The projects set out to discover the key questions presented by the piece and consider ways to help children explore them more fully.
This is what Ant said about the project:
“We put our heads together with Grace and commissioned her to lead us through a philosophical enquiry into Hide and Seek, the story of the Gunpowder Plot, a script we were preparing to take into rehearsals. A lot of our theatre is participatory and we work with small numbers of students in order to reach as greater depth of insight and understanding as possible. Finding the right questions in our work is essential and Grace took us through a very clear and thought provoking structure and journey which led us to find the questions we wanted to ask. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Grace and she provoked us in the same way that we aim to provoke our audiences.”
