The Worm Collector – A philosophical exploration of issues around knife crime
The West Yorkshire Playhouse’s Schools Touring Company has taken professional theatre into Leeds’ schools for over 20 years. This year Grace toured with with their production of The Worm Collector by J C Marshall. Over ten weeks the tour visited around 40 schools working with over a thousand young people to explore some of the philosophical issues raised by the play. The workshop fused Thinking Space’s creative enqury practice practice with TIE (Theatre in Education) to help children explore the play creatively, privileging the audiences’ emotional as well as their intellectual responses to issues such as bullying, violence, and death.
