P4C Top-Up Twilights, for staff at Shire Oak Primary
The lovely teachers and TAs at Shire Oak are in their third year of an ongoing philosophy project: Leeds Philosophy Exchange This series of P4C top-up twilight look at four aspects a philosophical enquiry and explores practical ways to breathe life into them:
Warm ups – Build community skills through games and introduce enquiry content through priming activities such as concept fishing.
Stimuli – Besides picture books, has your class tried thought experiments, puzzles and paradoxes?
Facilitation – Helpful ways to improve your facilitation including pausing to think, pair and share and enlisting a scribe.
Reflection – Enquiry-focussed reflection is common, but what about community-focussed reflection?
Philosophy students from the University of Leeds attend these sessions and they are followed by joint planning and much tea.
